How I come to have so many cat?

 Winter 1998

Lessie was 1 of 4 kittens the feral mother brought to me.  They lived on my back porch for a while.  Sorry to say that Lessie is the sole survivor.  He's still a little skittish, even though he's strictly an indoor-cat now. He's named Lessie because he has less white on his face than his brother Moorie. 

Lessie is pictured here with his (decesed)sweetheart Doobie.  I called them Ying and Yang.

 Spring 2000

Snatched her up June 2003 as she was following a group of people walking by my house.  I don't know if she belonged to any of them, but no one looked back when she left them to come by me.  She was about 8-10 months old.   She spent most of her time up high, to get away from HunnyBunny, who swatted her every chance she got.  Sweetie on the other hand likes everybody and everything!  Such a sweetie pie!  Adopted her out to Little Jeanie and her son, April 25, 2007 but she returned her about 3 weeks later.  Seemed Sweetie was not happy.  She wanted to get out and refused to eat.  Boy was Sweetie mad at me!  It took her about a month before she purred again and she was an "purr on human contact" cat before.  Thanks for forgiving me Sweetie.  Number 3 of my original 3.

 Fall 2001
Niki was adopted from Friends of Linden Animal Shelter, where I am volunteer.  He looked like he really needed a home.  He's so needy!  Always looking for attention.  I can't tell you how many glasses of wine or cups of tea he spilt on me, my keyboard and computer because he just has to be in front of my face!  But never, every on my lap!

 D.O.B. March 15 1995 C.P. is the brother of HunnyBunny.  So sweet! He loves to crawl under the covers to sleep with you.  I have CP now because his former mistress, my sister-in-law passed away in 1998.

 December 2006

Fella.  I believed he belonged to my neighbor, but when the neighbor moved away, Fella was still around.  So... when I moved away..... I took him with me, thinking I can foster him until I find him a good home.  He's a real nice guy!  Big yet gentle, and now he's "Uncle Fella" to all my other guys.

 BJ - My son Ron fed the stray cats behind BJ's Warehouse when he worked there.  He took a liken to this one, so he named her BJ.  He brought her home because she was pregnant.  (I'm just thankful that it was a cat and not a girlfriend!)  BJ had 5 kittens: HunnyBunny, CP, Pete, Reesie, and one other female we found a good home for.

 Born March 15 1995

Pete is, well..... a black cat!  But such sweetheart, what else can I say.  All of BJ's babies are sweethearts!  I have to give him a daily dose of this trans-dermal thyroid medication in his ear.  He was so skinny I thought he would break when I picked him up.  The medication is really helping him put some weight on.  I MUST wear a rubber finger when I administer it.  I don't NEED to gain any weight!!!!

Born March 15 1995

Reesie - named because she the color of  peanut butter and chocolate mixed.  Real sweet too! 

Before I moved in with my son.  My mother was feeding a bunch of cats in her backyard.  I knew I had to "Trap - Neuter - Release" or the backyard would be inundated with cats!

  • 9. Queenie
 Queenie was one of the more friendly cats that came to dinner.  Then one day she brought her 2 kittens to our yard, so I grabbed up her kittens (Penn and Jedd) and she followed, not without a struggle though.  She had to have her tail amputated, because the tip of her spine was broken and her tail hung lose which blocked the way for kitty litter visits.  I'm not sure whether she was hit by a car or that I caused the injury in the scuffle to get her in the cage with her kittens, but she is doing fine now, and has all her cat-like attributes.  And she turned out to be a real sweetheart.  Occasionally she needs to be bath because of her lack of feeling in her.... well.... tail area.

 Summer 2006- 8/9/08

I adopted Penn out to a very nice man.  But he came back the next day..... the man said he kept him up all night crying.  Poor Penn.  He missed him mom and brother.   I guess I'll keep all three!

Penn died today of a mysterious illness.  His brother Jedd is in the hospital because he is showing signs of the same illness.  Let's hope he'll be alright.

 Summer 2006

Jedd, named after the nickname my son had for his grandfather.  Jedd is a mama's boy.  He will purr upon contact, but I think it's out of fear, more than happiness.  He's a hard one to catch and would not come when called even if I have real chicken to give him.  But I still love him.

Spring 2006

Lickedy showed up in my yard one day, and seeing that I had a garage full of feral cats, I figured what's one more.  Today, Lickedy fits right in with the other kittens, who have all been brought into the house!  He's slightly bigger and as you can see,  and a little bully!   Yet he is one of the sweetest little guys I ever met.  I should adopt him out, but I'm really reluctant to do so.  He hangs out with me to watch TV!  Lickedy
Seeing it was my mother's fault that all these cats were coming in her yard..... she had to all a couple to come in and stay too!

 This is P-tek!  He was a stray that came to our yard to get some food.  He was so friendly that we invited him in.  Pee Wee was so happy to have someone around his own size to play with that we decided to keep him.  What a mistake!  They play so hard together they knock down lamps and plants!  But at least Pee Wee is happy now!

 Butch was my second "trap-neuter and release" cat.  But, as you can see..... he just would not go.  He insisted on staying on as part of our family.  So.... now he is on the inside of the cat door and up on my "Page-O-Pets"!  He's extremely friendly, yet very hard-headed and strong!
Now we finally come to the final 2 cats.  They were sucessfully "trapped -neutered and release"

 My first "neuter and release".  He was so wild and ornery, that I was afraid to get close to him to take this photo.  Poor baby was all beaten up, with infected cuts and scratches and loaded with tics.  Thank goodness the vet fixed him, in more ways than one, and here is a photo of how he looks today, about 10 months later.

 Zenia had 4 kittens.  I captured 2 of them, sweet Iris and Crazy Daisy.  Where the other 2 went, I really don't know.  I adopted Iris to a very nice couple, but Daisy was too wild and never calmed down, so I released her in the yard to be with her mother.  Unfortunately, I found her on my lawn a couple of days later, apparently she was hit by a car.
